Statement on Election Results
As we process this election, we’re thinking about the very real impacts it could have on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, asexual, questioning and all other residents in our county—especially those living at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities.

One thing is certain:
The LGBTQ+ community and our allies in Napa County are everywhere, in every sector, showing up and pushing forward. Progress here isn’t just an idea - local activism has brought change to this community. Racism, homophobia, transphobia and other types of hate are recognized as public health issues. Local organizations have prioritized LGBTQ+ Best Practices training for staff, and every June, Pride flags are raised over our city councils. Our schools have thriving Gay-Straight Alliance clubs, and our District Attorney’s office is holding anti-LGBTQ hate crimes accountable.
With over 30 events on Napa’s Pride calendar this past June alone, we continue to stand proud.

This is our legacy, and it’s not going anywhere.
The reality is that we’re exhausted by the hostility and uncertainty in U.S. politics. Our mental health is impacted by all of it. Many of us feel this way. But we are not too tired to hold our collective power. Our community—our chosen families, our allies, our art and our organizing—is where we find strength.
As leaders, every single one of us has a story that matters, pain that matters, a voice that matters.
Our work matters. We matter.
Our lives are valuable.

The election may have delivered heavy blows, but it also brought serious milestones.
The first openly transgender member of Congress and the first LGBTQ+ representative from the South will soon be sworn in. Marriage equality saw overwhelming support in California, Colorado, and Hawaii. People across the country fought for reproductive rights and won.
And here in our own community, we found inspiration in each other—LGBTQ+Ally leaders, showing up and supporting one another, day after day.

Looking ahead, we know the fight for our rights will only intensify in an era of escalating harm toward the LGBTQ+ community - even in California.
Together, we’ll reimagine and strengthen our resistance.
Though it is too soon for resilience, our history proves that our resilience has always been our power, and that will drive us forward.
In 2025, the Queer Leaders Coalition will launch a new steering committee and invite volunteers to step up and deepen LGBTQ+ advocacy, activism, and organizing right here in Napa County. We’re all in this together, standing for an inclusive and just future. Our legacy will grow, no matter the challenges. And we’re not letting up.

What We Do
We exercise joy as resistance.
In rural areas like Napa County, LGBTQ+ individuals face significant challenges due to the absence of visibility, a centralized hub, or an organized Pride Month. This gap hinders the unity and inclusivity of our local LGBTQ+ community.

So we're trying to fix that.

We serve as an incubator for LGBTQ+ local action realness. Our vibe is to empower LGBTQ+ individuals and allies through strategic initiatives in organizing, volunteering, social events & advocacy in Napa County.
We envision a Napa County where every LGBTQ+ individual thrives in an inclusive, and equitable community, empowered by diverse stories and purposeful action.

Queer joy saves lives.
